| Another fantastic DJ, I’ve known Tim for about 18 months now. A top bloke on the decks & off, he is always happy to help. Skill wise you wont find much better, a true talent. Tim started to DJ when he was about 16 using a friends set-up & soon found he was hooked. Playing mostly drum & bass, he soon discovered House & Trance music. Hooked on the sounds, he soon purchased his own set-up and got more serious. I know for a fact, this guy can mix anything, House, Trance, Techno, Drum & Bass, Break beat & anything else you can think of. Now days you’ll find Tim mixing more mellow sounds, & he is getting a bigger audience everyday on his Podcast ‘The Chillout Lounge Mix’ which you can find here: 'The Chillout Lounge Mix' Which features some very beautiful, relaxing sounds indeed. Trust me! When I want to relax & chill-out I look to this Podcast, & it works every time. The latest episode features the fantastic music of 'Lemongrassmusic' & is superb, to say the least. All in all you wont find much better in the ‘Chill-Out’ genre & you wont find a nicer guy either. Written By Paul Dando. |

UK Mafia Beats – NightMusic - Imagination
The UK Mafia Beats release the second mix in the ‘NightMusic’ series, with another massive 2 hour mix of ‘Deep House’ More of the same is on tap, with another fine selection of tracks, all suited to the later hours of the night. Or maybe a touch of relaxing by the pool? This time ‘Tim Angrave’ kicks the mix off, with a slight Jazziness, then ‘Kris Sharp’ takes over, with some spicy house tunes. ‘Dandolion’ follows with some Tech House & ‘Dornan In The Mix’ finishes the mix off, with some delightful moody tracks. All in all I think you will enjoy the ride! Feel free to leave your thoughts, on the mix, right here in our comments box below. Written By Paul Dando. |

Spotlight On DJ Kris SHARP
Here is a link to Kris’s Podcast: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/dj-kris-sharp/id408093794
| Today we take a look at, Mr Sharp, A DJ that is up and coming through the world of DJ life, & someone who I regard has one to watch, in the future. To say that Kris is a perfectionist is an understatement, he is not happy, unless his work is spot on. Especially his DJing & I should imagine this goes for everything in his life. too. Originally from Poland, Kris moved to Blackpool, England, to try and further his career & he is now looking to move to London, to push things even further. His brilliant array of skills can be heard on his podcast, over at iTunes. Were you will hear a selection of Deep & Progressive House mix sets, demonstrating his endless talent of DJ mixing & track selections that are out of this world. I have never come across anyone who has disliked his mix sets & I’m sure, that if your into your Deep & Progressive House, you’ll love them too. Written By Paul Dando. |
The Effects Of Software On DJing Today
Animated Video on how Some DJs Act Today!
| OK so I was talking to a friend this week, A friend who works in Moscow Russia, He is American & went over to the Russian Capital to continue his trade, which I understand he has been doing for quite a while now, 20 years I believe. I stopped working has a DJ professionally in 2005 due to the lack of good solid gigs, to keep making a living out of it. But what is the reason for this you ask, well I can tell you, it’s simply that the trade is saturated with to many wannabe Dj who can simply charge less than you. The reason these guys can is because they can cut down on costs. They Download a pirated version of some form of DJ software, They buy a cheap laptop & they download music from pirate websites free. Back when I started years ago, I spent hours learning the art of DJing, learning to beat match & I mean hours, everyday after school, all weekend & every spare minute I had. All you have to do now days is plug in a laptop, select a playlist of mp3s and your done. Just sit or stand there watching it do the work for you, Cool? The thing that bugs me the most, is that people pay these guys to do it live, for hundreds of pounds or dollars. Now I’m all for technology, why not! I mean something that makes life easier is great but only surely if you have learnt the manual way first. If one of the wannabe DJs laptop broke down, would they be able to continue their set? I doubt it! So if you are thinking about becoming a Pro DJ then learn the hard way first, for the good of the trade & continue to teach others the way too. THE TRUE WAY! Before it dies. |

So What’s Next
Well this week I’m working on three mix sets, The first one is called ‘Route 33 On A Bullet’ By ‘Smoke SinDust’, which is basically a follow on to ‘Travel’ (last weeks mix). Again more of a mixture of house genres, but the tempo is a little faster & I’ve gone for more progressive sounds, but again would suit either the dance floor or the sofa. The reason I’m going to call it ‘Route 33 On A Bullet’ is because the first track is by an artist called ‘Route 33’ & the last track is called ‘Bullet’. I won’t let onto what the rest of the track list is, because I’d like to keep it a surprise. Look out for ‘Route 33 On A Bullet’ coming in the next couple of weeks. You can check out ‘Travel By ‘Smoke SinDust’ by following this link: http://www.mix.dj/mixes/showdetails/4341872/0/0/mixupload/Paul_Dandolion_Dando/Travel/view
| Also this week, my group ‘UK Mafia Beats’ are finishing off, the final touches of ‘NightMusic 2’ which is coming very soon, We are working very hard to try and bring this out by this coming Sunday. Again this mix starts where the previous one left off, more sensual ‘Deep House’ which is perfect for the AM hours of the night, or maybe next to the pool, if your in the summer part of the world. I can tell you all our sets are top draw on this one & we are very excited about what you guy & girls will think. Look out for ‘NightMusic 2’ coming soon! Also this week I have started work on my first ever 1 artist mix set. I’m doing a mix, featuring the one and only ‘The Timewriter’ Jean F. Cochois. One of my favourite ‘Deep House’ producers, 15 years producing some of the best sounds I’ve ever heard & I’m going to share, a 1 Hour 40 minute mix, featuring just his music. So look out for that. This Weeks Must Play’s On mix.dj – Week 4 2011
Rectified & Digital Defeckt - Forward & Reverse A fantastic moody mix to start of with from these guys, the first half is dark, moody & beautiful at the same time. With an onslaught of Progressive House, that will leave you breathless. At the start my first thoughts were ‘this is a bit strange’ but then it hits you, by the second track I was taken away, Awesome! An amazing ‘Dinka’ track is involved in this mix too & I love ‘Dinka’ Towards the end of the mix, things get a little more heavy, with some ‘Breaks’ filtering in. This mix is guarantied to lift your mood, no matter how bad your day has been. Choopi – Revelation I think relax is the mood this week & we have more ‘Proggy’ House for you, with our second mix this week. I’m a big fan of ‘Choopi’ A long time member of http://www.mix.dj & a brilliant DJ. This mix like the first of our highlights this week starts a little on the strange but nice side. The first track for me is a little different. But of course you can go with it & its worth it, because from then on, it’s nothing but bliss. You can just sit back on your cloud & drift away, with the sounds. Look out for the sample of ‘Moby’s classic ‘Go’ For More Information & Full Track List, Follow This Link http://www.mix.dj/mixes/showdetails/4341873/0/0/mixupload/choopi/Revelation/view
Dj Guido P - Deeper - House Station Deep Love the start of this set, I like the way it builds up. This time I go with some ‘Deep House’ seems has the theme this week is relax. You can’t go wrong with ‘Deep House’ if you want to relax. To this mix however you can either relax, or get up and groove, because this certainly has a groove to it. Solid mix from this DJ and I found nothing wrong with the mixing or track selection.
